The patch adds support to provide Latency histogram from Spirent traffic generator. 1. 03_traffic.conf: Enable histogram, and set type (default) 2. testcenter.py: If histogram enabled, call the script with right flag. 3. testcenter-rfc2544-rest.py: configure and write histogram to a separte file in the default results folder. 4. Fix PyLint Errors 5. Adding a patch to test the 'build-error-fix'. Increased the MAX_MEMSEG of in DPDK-config to 1024 6. Adding MAX_MEMSEG configuration at common_base didn't work. 7. Included packet sizes in the output. 8. Included description under spirent TGen 9. Removed MAX_MEMSEG configuration. 2018-05-28connections: Introduction of generic APIMartin Klozik1-2/+1
Redesign of vSwitch and vSwitch controller classes, to use generic connection methods for configuration of vSwitch. This API is more generic and vSwitch agnostic, thus deployment scenarios like P2P, PVP, PVVP (i.e. PVVPx) can be used for all (currently) supported vSwitches. Usage of new API will simplify an introduction of new vSwitches in the future. This patchset introduces following changes: * OVS: implementation of add_, del_, dump_ connection(s) and their validation methods * VPP: bidir parameter removed - it is up to the deployment scenario implementation to take care about bidirectional connections * P2P and PXP controllers were updated to use connection methods instead of flow related methods. Thus standard TCs will support both OVS and VPP. NOTE, PVPV is not supported for VPP (yet?). * refactoring of vSwitch interfaces and inherited classes * VPP step driven TCs were replaced by standard TCs with appropriate deployment scenarios. This is for backward compatibility with TC reporting. Once reporting of VPP TC results into results DB will be modified, this TCs can be removed. * OVS routing tables support was generalized to support P2P and PXP deployments and step driven TCs. Adds option to enable promiscuous mode for Trex traffic generator to allow for SR-IOV tests to work correctly. Trex by default only accepts packets based on destination MAC address matching what is configured on server in /etc/trex-cfg.yaml. This removes that limitation since SR-IOV tests require mac addresses to be modified in the generated packets to correctly route packets to the relevant VFs. Adds final verification option to Xena traffic generator inside VSPerf. Works by running the Xena2544.exe again after the initial run is complete with modified values inside the json file. If the final verify fails it will revert the settings and continue the in a pattern based on if the smart search is enabled. During testing it is sometimes useful to generate pure L2 traffic without L3 or L4 related headers. IxNetwork TCL script was updated to support this option. Generic TRAFFIC array was enhanced by on/off switch for L3 and L4 headers. Thus it can be implemented by other traffic generators in the future, if this feature will prove itself useful. Traffic generated by traffic generator is based on default values and their modifications specific to particular testing scenario. Traffic default values were defined inside VSPERF code and it was not possible to change them. This patch introduces new TRAFFIC dictionary inside 03_traffic.conf. Thus user can modify any of TRAFFIC values either in configuration file or by CLI or by 'Parameters' section of testcase definition. Following CLI options were obsoleted by this patch: 'bidirectional', 'traffic_type', 'iload', 'multistream', 'stream_type' and 'pre-installed_flows' Following CLI option was renamed to be consistent with other options: 'tunnel_type' => 'TUNNEL_TYPE' Following sections of testcase definition were obsoleted: "Traffic Type", "biDirectional", "MultiStream", "Stream Type", "Pre-installed Flows", "Flow Type" and "iLoad" New TRAFFIC dictionary should be used instead of old CLI options and old testcase definition sections. In the past, only a few configuration parameters could be modified via --test-params CLI argument and it was not easy to find out their complete list. This patch adds support for generic modification of any configuration parameter via CLI argument --test-params or by "Parameters" section of testcase definition. Thus it is possible to customize a vsperf configuration environment per testcase or for each vsperf execution. Old CLI parameters duration, pkt_sizes, rfc2544_tests and rfc2889_trials were renamed to TRAFFICGEN_DURATION, TRAFFICGEN_PKT_SIZES, TRAFFICGEN_RFC2544_TESTS and TRAFFICGEN_RFC2889_TRIALS to be consistent with other configuration parameters. 2016-08-03pkt_gen: MoonGen start rates not correctbmichalo1-0/+4
The VSPERF traffic profile for starting rate is in a percentage of line rate. MoonGen programs its starting rate as Mpps. Therefore the traffic profile for VSPERF needs to be converted to a MoonGen format. There was a hardcoding of 14.88 that was used for the starting frame rate for all frame sizes. Add files for Xena Networks 2544 throughput implementation. This allows for Xena to execute tput tests from VSPerf. For information on how this works please see the JIRA ticket. Modify traffic gen guide on install instructions for Xena. Add in scapy to requirements file. Measure OVS DPDK VXLAN decapsulation performance. The DUT is configured as a VTEP (VXLAN Tunnel Endpoint) which performs decapsulation of frames and sends traffic to the 2nd traffic generator port. This test is unidirectional. 2015-06-08framework: Add reworked framework to repoBilly O'Mahony1-0/+57
This commit adds the vSwitch Integration Test Framework whose design, based off TOIT, is outlined in the HLD previously made availiable to the community for review. The design of this framework allows developers to add different implementations of components, specifically vSwitches, Traffic Generators, Metrics Collectors and VNFs, easily. The goal of this design is that all testcases should run regardless of what is "under the hood". This commit adds support for running the framework for a phy to phy RFC2544 testcase only. More testcases will be added by the community. vSwitches supported at this time: * Intel DPDK (r) accelerated OpenvSwitch Traffic Generators supported at this time: * IxNet - IxNetwork Implementation * Ixia - IxExplorer Implementation * Dummy - Manual Implementation Metrics Collectors supported at this time: * Linux Metrics No VNFs are supported at this time but the framework outlines how they should be integrated and provides APIs for them to adhere to.
