This patch add containerization of VSPERF support. The patch facilitates creation of 4 containers: 1. Interactive Deployment 2. Auto Deployment 3. Interactive TestControl 4. Auto TestControl. The patch also includes a minimal client to work with interactive containers. The docs folder provides detailed documentation. Fixed pylint errors in libs folder. Removed proto built python files, and added the build process in prepare.sh. Stability improvements for Auto versions of deployment and testcontrol. Enhance client with 'mode' feature, where client can run either to do only deploy/only test or both. Add sample configuration file for client Fixed few typos - as suggested by AL. 2018-03-19vsperf: Performance Matrix functionality supportRichard Elias1-3/+24
The patch expands the vsperf --test-params argument with list functionality, which enables running multiple tests with different parameters. If more tests are run then parameters provided, the last parameters will be reused. Example: ./vsperf --test-params "['','TRAFFICGEN_PKTSIZE = (64,)']" phy2phy_cont phy2phy_cont CUMULATIVE_PARAMS if true, instead of using the default settings, each test will take the parameters of the previous test before applying it's own. The patch also adds the vsperf --matrix argument which analyzes and compares the results of all the tests run, printing it as a table, as well as saving it into a file in the results directory. MATRIX_METRIC metric used by Performance Matrix to compare tests. 2017-06-02tests: Improvement of step driven testcasesMartin Klozik1-1/+4
A set of improvements was introduced to enhance step driven testcases capabilities. Details: * delay among test steps is configurable by TEST_STEP_DELAY parameter * step driven tool function exec was renamed to exec_shell * new step driven tool function exec_python was introduced to execute a python code * new step driven object sleep was introduced to pause test execution for defined number of seconds. * fixed bug in settings.validate_getValue() to correctly validate access of parameters modified by TEST_PARAMS * new #PARAM() macro was introduced to allow references among configuration parameters * multistream support has been added into ixnetrfc2544v2.tcl, which is used for tunneling protocols test (op2p deployment) * fixed bug in op2p deployment to list interfaces and flows from both bridges involved in the test * test report updated to state exact rfcxxxx type of traffic type, e.g. rfc2544_continuous * test report of step driven testcases was updated to contain measured values from traffic generator in CSV report * method for ovs flow comparison was modified to normalize IPv4 CIDR network addr (e.g. 10.0.0.5/8 => 10.0.0.0/8) JIRA: VSPERF-512 Change-Id: Ib4f38dcdfbf3820dd766b25520da0ad0c81f3293 Signed-off-by: Martin Klozik <martinx.klozik@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Al Morton <acmorton@att.com> Reviewed-by: Christian Trautman <ctrautma@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Sridhar Rao <sridhar.rao@spirent.com> Reviewed-by: Trevor Cooper <trevor.cooper@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Ciara Loftus <ciara.loftus@intel.com>
2016-09-15paths: Support binary packagesMartin Klozik1-8/+46
Currently VSPERF supports OVS, DPDK and QEMU built from the source code only. In some cases it is required to support installation of these tools from binary packages available for given linux distribution. Thus VSPERF configuration and code was modified to suport both source and binary versions of tools. This can be configured perf tool, so various combinations of source and binary version are supported. Together with new configuration also a handling of kernel modules was modified to automatically detect and load module dependencies. 2015-11-03bugfix of Vanilla OVS testing scenariosMartin Klozik1-0/+12
Automatic selection of OVS and DPDK directories must be performed before initialization of modules is called. Otherwise modules will use wrong values with unpredictable results. Default directory values have been changed to point to sources build by make. Clean&sweep of directory usage was performed. Configuration file for pylint has been renamed to follow pylint naming convention. 2015-06-08framework: Add reworked framework to repoBilly O'Mahony1-0/+61
This commit adds the vSwitch Integration Test Framework whose design, based off TOIT, is outlined in the HLD previously made availiable to the community for review. The design of this framework allows developers to add different implementations of components, specifically vSwitches, Traffic Generators, Metrics Collectors and VNFs, easily. The goal of this design is that all testcases should run regardless of what is "under the hood". This commit adds support for running the framework for a phy to phy RFC2544 testcase only. More testcases will be added by the community. vSwitches supported at this time: * Intel DPDK (r) accelerated OpenvSwitch Traffic Generators supported at this time: * IxNet - IxNetwork Implementation * Ixia - IxExplorer Implementation * Dummy - Manual Implementation Metrics Collectors supported at this time: * Linux Metrics No VNFs are supported at this time but the framework outlines how they should be integrated and provides APIs for them to adhere to.
